Today, my computer stopped working. Me, the technology challenged one, decided to do a system recovery on it hoping that I could make it better. Turns out, system recovery means deleting all the files off the computer including family photos, music and assignments and starting fresh. FML

YOU NEVER PUSH BUTTONS WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW FOR SURE WHAT IT WILL DO! Crap! That is one of the first lessons you learn as a child! Didn't your mom tell you not to touch things that you don't know about? Did you not pay attention?

I call fake. Whenever I've done a system recovery on my computer a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig message comes up saying "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS? IT WILL DELETE ALL OF YOUR FILES!" If you didn't see that, then you deserve to have lost everything

Holy crap guy. Ask someone who knows a little bit about computers for dicking around with one. You should also back up all your shit.

Just FYI- There's a very prominent message during the restore process that clearly tells you the hard drive will be wiped. It always sucks when you learn the hard way to actually read warnings before clicking "OK"....

I clicked YDI, but really, it's because of people like you that I have a job so: Keep on doing exactly what you're doing. :D

System recovery on a computer does not delete files. It restores system settings. Fake FMLs are becoming increasingly common...

Here is the solution to everything.... Keep Everything on an external Harddrive... That way you cna mess with the computer all you want w/o having to worry about losing your files... It's safe and reliable. And if you can install Ubuntu then you won't have to worry about your computer messing up in the first place... YDI for doing a system recovery instead of trying to call an expert to come and fix it for you...

Back up your files occasionally. An external mini HD is so cheap and its better than losing all your stuff. Do you not save assignments when you write them and get mad when the power goes out, etc and you lose your work? Anyhow, you can create restore points...but you should ask for help so someone else is there to not overlook your warning messages.

"me decided to do a system recovery" and me decided to say YDI
