Today, my cousin got hired after six days of job-hunting. I graduated from university six months ago and haven't even scored a single interview; he's a deadbeat junkie who just got out of prison after doing time for armed robbery. FML

Same thing different taste

Today, it's been months since I graduated university. I still haven't managed to land a single interview. Meanwhile my brother recently woke up from a week long bender, realized he had no money for weed, went out, and 4 days later landed a well paid sales job 15 minutes from home. FML

Today, my roommate has a job interview. He only applied to the job yesterday. Meanwhile, I've been out of work for three weeks. I've applied to at least ten jobs. I have yet to get a call-back from any of them. FML

Today, my 16 yr old cousin needed help making a job resume so I give him mine to see as an example. He changed my name to his and it got him a job right away. The sad part? I handed my resume out to about 30 places and I am still unemployed. FML

Today, my 30-year old cousin, who is unemployed, parasitic and never completed high-school, whose girlfriend is a crack addict, wants to move into my place. He was evicted from an apartment building two weeks ago for assaulting some neighbors. FML

Today, I went on my 56th job interview since graduating from college 3 months ago. I am 31 years old and I spent 11 years in college. I only graduated with a Bachelor's Degree after all those years, but I am still not qualified for anything due to how long it took me to complete my degree. FML

Today, my sister started a full-time job with a good pay despite having no prior work experience and being a college freshman. Meanwhile, I've graduated with two degrees, have been working two jobs for the last five years, and still can't get a full-time position anywhere. FML

Today, after 3 years of unemployment and 6 months of hard studying, I found out I hadn't actually registered myself for the public service exam that will happen later this month and could finally get me a job. FML

Your probably looking for a good job in your field that's why. Sorry to tell you this but you should get a low skilled job like cashiering while searching for the real one.

Network, get out and meet people, hit up your old teachers go to conferences in your field. Remember, it's not always what you know, but who you know.

Am I the only one thinking good for the cousin for making the effort and getting a job only 6 days out of prison? Sounds like he's trying to reintegrate into society, and he's most likely got a much less desirable job than OP is looking for. I get that it's frustrating not to find a relevant job - took me 9 months after uni working as a waitress until I could find a semi-relevant job and the pay was just enough to live off. Now I'm studying for a masters to give me what I need to get a job doing what I really want to. In the meantime you might need to find something less skilled and less well paid, or get further qualifications if it will give you a better chance at a job in your desired area.

This should even be an FML I clicked ydi but nothing really happened to the op. Still, don't be an ass and be happy for your cousin. I don't suppose he was hired for the same job you are looking for. The cousin probably got a minimum wage job...
