Your dad should have asked where they were calling from first. Standard procedure for telemarketers at my house. And then you hang up on them once you have ascertained that it is a telemarketer on the other end.

hahaha, wow. That's so messed up. I bet the next get together is going to be very akward... O.o I hope he at least apologized when he figured out who the guy actually was. He should learn to ask who's calling before going off like that. Would save some embarrassment.

I'm Indian, AND a girl and my parents aren't strict at all. I find it's more traditional Indian parents who are "strict", and they're not even that bad compared to a couple decades ago. My dad says he would get beaten with a metal pipe if his parents found out he had a girlfriend. God knows what they did to girls. So if I get a bad mark on a test, yeah, I'm not allowed to go out for a week. If I wanna go on the computer, I have to ASK, big whoop. It's not that big of a deal. Everyone is always astonished at how "hard" my parents are on me. It's just ground rules I grew up to. The racism here is pissing me off.

Im Indian (punjabi) and if I ever had a boyfriend, my parents would flip a sh*t! Which sux for them cuz I plan on getting a normal marriage anyway (they want me to get an arranged marriage)

Your dad sucks for having his first reaction to a telemarketer be cussing them out. They're obnoxious, but they're just doing their jobs and they aren't doing anything wrong. The worst you should do is hang up on them. He sucks even more for not realizing the guy didn't say "I'm calling to talk to you about X product today." I really hope this doesn't mess things up for you and your girlfriend. Most parents I know would have a serious conversation with their kid regarding their significant other's parents' rudeness, out of concern for the environment the significant other comes from.
