Today, my daughter proudly showed me her new tattoo sleeve, which is made up of an angry cupcake, hemp leaves, and a My Little Pony character. She's almost 30, still unemployed, and still lives in my home. I now have no hope of her ever becoming a productive member of society. FML

I get it that its not an easy thing to just let your child face the real world and sink or swim on their own, but its clear this one desperately needs to face that reality. At this point, you've done all you can and more than you probably should have.

I take it all the people who said "kick her out" here are employed and living on their own. Or they're younger than 30 and think it makes it all right. Or, at the very least, they don't have tattoos.

Her future is not ruined. There are several companies that hire folks with tattoos. At least it isn't on her neck or face! As for having an unemployed 30 year old child living at home, well, I have to say you deserved that a little bit. Give her a date by which she must move out, follow through even if she calls your bluff, and let her eat saltines and vienna sausages for a few weeks if she has to. Otherwise she might never be able to take care of herself, which actually hurts her more than you.

I think that if OP is just letting his daughter stay in his house without even trying to help her get on her feet, or suggesting that she get a job, then he deserves it. OP did help raise her, so there is a chance that this is partially his fault.
