Today, my daughter turned 11. Since she LOVES Harry Potter, I decided to write her an acceptance letter to Hogwarts. When she saw the letter, she screamed and showed me. When she found out I wrote it, she told me she hated me, started crying, and stepped on my foot. FML

Okay, everyone seems to be forgetting that eleven year olds ARE idiots. Even if they know the book is fiction, they still WANT it to be real- and if the outside world gives them a glimpse of hope that maybe it's more than fiction, they WILL believe it because they WANT it to be real. I waited for my Hogwarts letter when I was turning eleven. I didn't really think I'd get one, and when I didn't I wasn't crushed, but if I HAD gotten one I'd probably have shit myself. This mother obviously has never been obsessed with something like 11 year olds can be with this book series. That, or she's just a bitch. She should have known better than to have made the poor kid think she was going off to live in a magical world and then taken it away. That's horrible. Just take her to see the damn movie.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!?!?!?!?! Ugg I can't even begin to tell you how terrible that is. The poor little girl! An eleven year old really has no way of knowing that was fake because the excitement blinds them ;- )

"It's not every day your young man turns 11, now, is it?" - Hagrid. Harry actually started getting letters when he was 10, but he wasn't able to read one until Hagrid brought it for his 11th birthday. Fail.

for everyone saying she is dumb and stupid for believing in Harry Potter at that age all i can say to you guys is.... YOU'RE A BUNCH OF ******* RETARDS! I mean seriously if you had no imagination at 11 years old you lead a sad misserable life and i feel ******* sorry for you loosers, don't take it out on the girl cos she has imagination, tbh i still wish it was real lol, if i could go to hogwarts with emma watson i'd be the happiest guy in the world ;) :P

There's a big difference between being creative, and being gullible as hell.

and? shes a ******* kid, you woulda believed it at that age too most likely :/

She's 11 wouldn't you have any common sense at that age to know Harry Potter is just a good fiction book?

Oh my gosh people how could it be mean??? It was a really thoughtful gift! The daughter just somehow found out that it was made by her mom, thats all. It's not like the mom went "HAHA LITTLE SQUIRT IT'S FAKE!!!" FYL cuz the gift wasn't appreciated. I'm sure the daughter will get over it in like two days, so whatever. And besides, a girl saying I hate you to her parent means practically nothing, it'll happen all the time. Everyone stop thinking this is a cruel gag gift or something.

I can’t believe there are so many negative comments about the daughter. An 11 year old is still a child people, despite how society is trying to make children look, think and act older. Chances are she does know the difference between fiction and reality but for one brief moment she actually believed that it could be possible. Then she had to learn that no, it doesn’t exist. On her birthday no less. Technically, she was only ten the day before for those who think 11 year olds should know better. Her response was a bit much but the mother should have known it would upset her to learn the truth.

FYL for having a stupid daughter, an 11-year old should know better, tell her to marry rich.

FYL for being an idiot, kids can believe what they want stop being harsh, dick
