Today, my drunk uncle threw my brand new iPhone 3GS into my pool, ruining it completely. When I asked him to pay for the 600 dollar replacement cost, he said he wasn't responsible for his drunken actions. All of my family members are on his side. FML

Get drunk and drive his car into the lake. Problem solved, after all you can't take responsibility for your drunken actions.

He wasn't ripped off. If you broke your iPhone, you would have to pay the unsubsidized price to replace it. Which is $600 for his model.

**** THAT TELL HIS DRUNK ASS TO GET OUT HIS WALLET!

Your uncle is full of shit. Almost all drunks show no remorse for their actions. Personally I'd give him a swift kick in the nuts. But I have the feeling karma will catch up to him someday. He'll probably drive drunk and kill somebody. No court on this planet would accept his excuse. The rest of your family are a bunch of retards, or they just hate you.

YDI for buying a $600 phone and not being able to fix the phone by just simply placing it in some dehydrated rice.

Umm... There's these little thing called "phone insurance" or "warranty." You're sposed to invest in them incase dumb stuff like that happens...

who really expects a drunken relative to throw their phone in the water? its an extra fee per month, some people are good enough with their phone they dont have to worry about it. Retarded drunk people...

AT&T does not insure the Iphone, as well as many of there other high-end phones, so that was not an option.

A phone warranty covers manufacturer defects. They never cover water damage.

Water Damage is usually a good deal more than accidental breaking or theft. seeing as a phone is usually in you pocket/bag or in use it is far less likely to get splashed like a laptop, I personally have insurance on my phone for the other 2 eventualities but didn't pay for water damage. also saying 'you should have bought insurance', insurance is useful but not taking it is not a stupid thing to do. certainly doesn't make it the OP fault if it then gets thrown in a pool

I think you should have thrown him in the pool and said "I am not responsible for my ANGRY ACTIONS BITCH" and just thrown him in (or kicked him in Sparta Style). not gonna lie, if my uncle did that, I would either do that, or steal his wallet while he was passed out drunk... or his car or something, haha. Sorry, $600 to not pay back... makes me want to do something SUPER cynical to him...
