Today, my father sent me a letter in the mail. He spelled my first name wrong on the front of the envelope. I'm turning 28 years old and my own father doesn't know that my name has two "t"s in it. FML

not really an fml..i mean as parents get older they forget things... shoot my momma cant tell me (im a female) and my brother apart on the phone, and not only does she forget our birthdays, she forgets hers as well as we get older, small mistakes like that should not bother us like farreal

Yeah your life is pretty much over now.

I dropped the extra t off my name in middle school. You should try it - gain seconds every year. Considering you posted it here, I hope it didn't ruin your life.

Boohoo? It happens a lot. I add or forget a letter all the time, especially with names like Matthew (#6).

Yeah it happens, my dad always asks me, "when is your birthday again?" to which I state the date July 12th, but he always thinks it's the 22nd. Every year! So yeah moral of the story - parents can be forgetful.

unless he's an ass who normally does things like that, it might be an early sign of alzheimers or dementia. or of drug or alcohol abuse. bottom line, if it's out of character, get it checked out.

wow. really? get over it. you sound like you're 5.

I always wonder how fml's like this get approved

Boo ******* hoo. People make mistakes. My mother routinely calls us by one of our siblings' names, then corrects herself. Obviously your dad couldn't do that, and scribbling on an envelope looks even worse. Cry into a pillow and get over it.

Which part of this is an FML? Your father took the time to sit down and write you a letter. In this day and age, with email and instant messaging and parents who don't have or take the time to sit and write a letter, you ought to sit down and write him one in return, saying how grateful you are that he wanted to take the extra time and money - okay, so stamps are cheap, but they're still not free - to contact you in a way that's more thoughtful than email. And sign it extra carefully so he can see that your name has two T's. He left out one letter, it's a really easy mistake to make.

My dad spelled my name wrong on my birthday cake. I'm 20.
