Today, my fiancée told me that she wants us to have an open marriage. She reasons that since she doesn't equate sex with love, there's no logical reason for me to be against her having sex with other people. FML

OP here. We've actually had a threesome together and loved it. But she specifically wants to be with other men without me there.

My thoughts exactly. Who the hell doesn't have urges to **** other people once in a while? But part of being committed, IMHO, is having the character and self-control to keep those urges in check.

My boyfriend wants the same thing. He keeps saying his desire for sex with other women is an illness. Dingle berry. Not happening, never, nope.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it called 'making love'?...

You are wrong. Sex is not "making love." Sex is sex. You shouldn't have to make love with your significant other. You should already be in love with them. If you are "making love," are you saying you didn't love them in the first place?

Personally, I don't see a point to marriage. You don't need a certificate to be with a person for ever, or to start a family, or to show you love each other. Life functioned fine long before marriage even existed, so what's the point?

I think that is a pretty good sign that if you say no, they will cheat. If that's really what they want, they should find someone to be with, who would be okay with it, or wants the same. Compatibility is really important!
