Perhaps we aren't getting the whole story... I think it very possible that the girlfriend was, for example, saying that she didn't feel comfortable around him all the time, as she would with someone she truly loved. This could very well have just been an example that she provided when the OP asked for one. Then again, she could be psychotic.
