Today, my history teacher confiscated my iPhone. She dropped it on the way back to her desk, and I now have a shattered iPhone screen to fix. FML

You probably could make her pay for it. Sure you weren't supposed to be using it in class, but that deserved confiscating, not BREAKING. (Also don't they have cases and stuff that you can get so that kind of shit doesn't happen? Otter box or something?)

Next time get an Android.. you dumb ass!

yeah. but google took over the android market, so in while that would probably be spoiled with ads, so they both have disadventages.

You do not have that until you turn 18.

Sorry this was a reply to someone else's comment. It was meant to ed up here.

Last I checked, iPhones are only for Facebook, Twitter, texting, and Angry Birds, so you shouldn't have been using it in class.

Textbooks are available on iPhone and iPad. A book on an iPhone is a damn joke.

Last I heard, iPhones (and any kind of phone to be exact) could be for emergencies. That's why I have teachers that allow students to use phones in class when if they think that there is an emergency.

Pacifica - Do yourself a favour. Go find a dictionary (dictionary.com will do) and look up "sarcasm".

Don't forget FML. iPhone's get a lot of use that way too.

you forgot music fml and tiny wings lol

I used to bring my phone in class all the time in university to go on Logmein and have access to my computer for PwP and notes. You can even use Apple Bluetooth keyboard to takes notes if you don't wanna bring your laptop !

I use mine I class (I'm in college now) to add exam dates and homework assignments to my calendar and stuff like that. I also use my calculator on it all the time. After I graduated high school, they changed the rules so that you could have a phone in class of it was on airplane mode since so many people use them as their calendars.

Last time I checked iPhones were for texting about not playing angry birds. #worstgameever

I would have gave her a piece of my mind along with the iPhone shattered glass.

YDI for sure. Maybe you should start following rules.

Maybe OP was. I had a teacher who would take away your phone if he knew you had one. I never uses my phone in class yet It was taken away almost everyday. So I know it might not be the case, but OP could've been following the rules.

Have the school board pay for it. I made my school board pay when a teacher got my phone stolen from her class.

Yes. Make her pay for it. I'm sure she broke it on purpose when taking it away because you were doing something you shouldn't have. Sucks it broke. But to everyone screaming make her pay and not being sarcastic, umm really?

Umm, yes, really. It doesn't matter if it was an accident, it was still her clumsiness that resulted in the phone being broken. Are you saying that if your friend borrowed something of yours and broke it, especially something expensive, like a phone or car, you wouldn't make them at least HELP you pay for damages? Must be nice to have such disposable income, but you don't have to prove intent to make someone pay for the damages that they caused.

not like it matters anyway... teachers arent held responsible for anything that they drop. a teacher could lose a phone or headphones and not have to replace it or anything because, sadly, they cant get in any trouble for it at all...

In my job if I damage something of a customers I have to pay to fix it I dont see why a teacher would be any different

If I accidentally broke something I'd offer to help replace it because it's the right thing to do. If someone accidentally broke something of mine I would not demand it if I was at fault as well. No, I do not have that kind of disposable income which is why I'm careful with my stuff. Including not using things where they shouldn't be in use. Maybe I'm just getting old but why do people need phones in school anyway? If there is an emergency, parents can always call the school. I know everyone has them and that's great. But get use to not taking it out every five minutes. Some jobs will fire you for it

The point is. Regardless of the op being at fault for using it during class the teacher had a legal responsibility to ensure the safety of the phone. They failed in that. Regardless of what's ethically right in this situation they can legally peosecute or demand repayment

Did she say anything about texting people? Maybe she was switching pockets or looking fer something else from the same pocket! :P

YDI for using it in class. If you hadn't been breaking the rules in the first place, she wouldn't have confiscated your phone.
