Today, my new iPhone was stolen from my school locker. After canceling my service, sobbing, having my mom yell at the secretary for their lack of security and finally agreeing to change to a private school, I found it in the corner of my locker. FML

Today, to keep my phone safe while I went on some rides, I took it out of my pocket so I could put it in my bag. Just as I pulled it out, a woman ran into me, knocking my phone to the ground and breaking the screen. FML

You probably could make her pay for it. Sure you weren't supposed to be using it in class, but that deserved confiscating, not BREAKING. (Also don't they have cases and stuff that you can get so that kind of shit doesn't happen? Otter box or something?)

You deserved having it taken away but not for her to break it. Not sure if you bought a case for it but should probably buy a better one than the one you have. Make her pay for that! Pretty sure the rest of the class saw her drop it.

I don't know why the majority of commenters are basically saying that OP should have had their phone out. I mean honestly, everyone I knew in high school texted while in class/school. I don't see the harm in texting in class. People claim phones are a distraction, but ANYTHING can be a distraction if you guys wanna look at it that way.

The sucks! Well like many others have said, make her pay for it. Whether it be a new screen, or a good grade. It's one thing to take away and return after class, but damaging it due to stupidity is not something that would settle with me.

I doubt it is all wrong for the teacher to confiscate your iPhone. If your salary in future decrease, you blame only yourself, not the teacher. That's why you shouldn't have used your iPhone in the classroom. The teacher shouldn't have taken away your iPhone, either. If I was you, I bring an action against her.
