She broke it she bought it.
Expensive but protective Otterbox anyone?
Otterbox cases are the best!
You shouldn't have been playing with it. First grade my Polly pockets were taken away and my teacher LOST them. I never got over it if probably still have them and i'm 23
You can actually replace the screen for $90
You'd think you would be able to be conspicuous enough that she didn't notice!
She should at least pay to fix the screen. Sure you shouldn't have been playing on it, but it was in her possession and her responsibility when it broke, therefore it's her fault for any damage.
YDI! The phone was no longer yours the moment you took it to school. Loco Parenti laws apply at school. Anything taken to the school belongs TO the school. You gave up your phone by having it there. AND if you are under 18 your parents can be sued by the school for allowing you to have it to begin with. Because you disrupted class by giving the teacher cause to take it.
I call bullshit to that.

Make sure she pays for that
You probably could make her pay for it. Sure you weren't supposed to be using it in class, but that deserved confiscating, not BREAKING. (Also don't they have cases and stuff that you can get so that kind of shit doesn't happen? Otter box or something?)
