Today, my husband and I were talking about names for our expectant child. I told him since I named our daughter he could name our son. He's decided on a name from 'God of War'. My son is going to be named after a make-believe cartoon character - Kratos. FML

Actually, its a greek name. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cratos "In Greek mythology, Cratos was a son of Pallas and Styx, and he was the personification of strength and power. " This name will ensure success for your son. It is also a name people will remember, not just 'Sam' or 'Bill' which you find all over the place. And as an added bonus the name is older than America

Kratos was a Greek god. God of War is a video-game, not a cartoon. GoW also means Gears of War, so we need better acronyms.

Being named after a Greek deity isn't going to ruin your children's future. Names like Kratos has a deeper meaning to them and can show certain characteristics in them. For example my name comes from the Celtic/Welsh horse Goddess, daughter of Heyfed. The name means great queen, witch, nymph. Kratos means strength. Strength can mean mental strength, physical, psychological, etc. Your son could be the embodiment of that strength.
