Today, my maths teacher was giving my whole class a lecture on 'if you don't pay attention at school, you will fail.' She then pointed out out a man working on the roof and said: 'if you don't listen, you will end up like that guy.' That was my dad. FML

i think it would be better to pay attention, or else you might end up as... her!

Your Dad probably earns more than that hack.

What a rude bitch... Roofing is a noble profession and it requires a lot of skills math being one of them.. You should have called her an arrogant pos and left...

Yeah let's see, pennsylvania last I checked teachers average start was about 45k PennDOT workers start at about 67k... Yeah listen to the self righteous snot who stands in front of your class drones on and on about stuff you may not even use.. My wife's mother got perfect grades in high school and now works 2 part time jobs just to make it so "paying attention in school" isn't a free pass to success..

To compliment my last post, my wife's dad, on the other hand, struggled through school and dropped out in ninth grade. He now makes 6 figures in contracting.

Actually, we mostly say "mathématiques" (or maths) in French, though "mathématique" is correct. :) Taking a shit in a drawer, now that's sick. Op, your teacher shouldn't have said that, but don't be ashamed of your dad because of someone who can't have a validate point without being disrespectful

screw that lady. this country was build on the backs of men like your dad. be proud.

I agree with #83 your teacher probably wouldn't be saying that if there was no roof above their head!!

I would jumped at the chance to put that teacher in that bad of a spot in front of an entire calssroom bbecause WHEN someone says something about it to the wrong person and your school's administration hears about it, SHE GONE.

However in English maths is correct and math is incorrect, no matter on circumstance.

That's ridiculous. I used to teach and am back in school for a further degree in education, and if I had said something like that, I would have been booted out the door by my boss. I don't know how it is in Australia, either, but here in the US, laborers usually earn more than most teachers, despite the fact that teachers usually have further degrees than they do. However, she is right on ONE point. You need to pay attention in school to get ANY job, even one as "just a roof repairman." Jobs look at your grades, even if you only went as far as a high school diploma. I wonder how she would feel if he DIDN'T repair the roof and her precious computer was rained on. Sheesh.
