Today, my minivan broke down on the side of the highway. I'm out of work and can't afford a cell phone, so I resorted to standing at the back of my van holding a "HELP" sign. About an hour went by, in which time I was passed by a cop car, a firetruck, and a car that said "Roadside Assistance." FML

If you want a cop to stop you should write "Free Donuts".

yet you have a computer, Internet access and time to complain on fml. I'd say pawn the computer and get you a disposible phone. what is an employer wanted to offer you a job? no wonder your out of work. priorities!

Computer > Cell Phone. Nuff said. That and it was never said that he had a computer or internet access, he could have it from a friends house.

I stopped reading after MINIVAN so YDI

Damn that sucks OP. it is possible all the emergency services that passed were responding to a call, just like it's possible that the op does not own the device they used to post. Save money and leave a prepaid in your car.

Omg! That sucks... Hopefully you did get rescued w/n another hr..

Reminds me of a story my mom told us. She had a station wagon, and it broke down on the side of the road. My older brother was 4, my twin and I were a few months old, and we were all in there with her. No one cared, and even a cop car passed by. But the only thing is that she actually got help from a passing tow truck. And more recently, I went to see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with my brother, and the '97 Ford Taurus also broke down on the side of the road on the way home.

how did you have a help sign randomly in your car or did you just make it whith all the markers and paper evryone has on the floor of their car?

Maybe they thought you were homeless. There are a bunch of people around here standing in the middle of the streets holding up signs of "help" claiming that they're homeless.

Maybe, but standing next to a disabled car is a pretty big indication that the person is a driver who broke down.

Maybe someone in his neighbourhood has an unprotected wireless accesspoint...

How did my comment even get here? It was a reply to the guy that said OP was on the internet submitting this FML while he couldn't afford a cellphone...

70, I was wondering that. :P maybe they keep one handy just in case this happens. Where were you driving anyway? You said you had no job :P
