Today, my mom told me to follow her car closely to my aunt's house. I kept really close to her which caused me to get pulled over for tailgating. I explained everything to the cop so he went over to my mom to see if that was the truth. My mom said she didn't know me. I got a ticket. Thanks mom. FML

So wait... the cop pulled YOU over, and your mom pulled over as well and sat there waiting for the cop to finish talking to you even though SHE wasn't in trouble, and then claimed to not know you even though he presumably explained the situation to her? Doesn't make much sense to me...

that is awful!!! I can't believe your mother would do that to you, that is one of the bitchiest moves ever. I def think she should pay your ticket or talk to the police and get it completely gone. That is bull sh**.

I guess I could imagine the person being tailgated pulling over to make sure the person tailgating them got what they deserved from the cop? That's the only reason I can imagine why a person who was being tailgated by a stranger would pull over if the cop pulled over said stranger. It doesn't make sense, though, especially if your mom is paying for your insurance. Of course in reality she probably stopped so you could continue following her. And I've been following people a number of times and had vehicles get between us, sometimes several after I move to a reasonable distance from the new ones in front of me, even when I'm driving closer than I'm comfortable. I can see how tailgating might be necessary, depending on your definition of the term.

heres a good idea. demand the cop look at both of your licenses to prove you are 1) related, and 2) live at the same address

Mom didn't want to get in trouble, apparently. But that was a bitch move on her part.

your mom is dumb for saying that and you're dumb for having to tailgate a car that close in order to follow it.

Hold that shit over her head for the rest of her life. Any time you don't feel like talking to her / dealing with her, just say "Sorry, I don't know you."

That's a cruel joke she played if that's what she was going for. I'd say return the favour next time she drives. :D

You probably should have known by now whether or not to trust your mother.
