Today, my nutjob girlfriend dumped me for refusing to stop talking to my best friend, just because she's a woman. Before she left, my now-ex decided to punish me by destroying the dissertation I've spent months working on, along with both backups of it. FML

You shouldn't ever ask a girl to stop talking to someone cause u want her to. Especially your best friend. If said best friend can't be trusted then i think the problem is them not your girlfriend.

wooow... Well, as someone who works with data all the time in IT there should be a way to get almost if not all of your data back. take it to a data recovery center and see what they can do. It can be time sensitive though so I wouldn't wait and do it asap if I were you... Good luck OP! And I would definitely look into legal action against her.
