Today, my parents refused to visit me at college because "the flights are too expensive." They are currently shopping for a new car to replace my mother's two-year-old Porsche. FML

Whats wrong with parents these days? >_>

#7 - the time and money they could've used to visit their child at college was put to replacing a car that's barely old. i don't think it's right, i think it's selfishness on the parents' side.

If they can afford to replace her Porsche, they can come to see you. The next time they want you to come home, tell them you can't.

#26, get off your high horse. I hate when people assume that just because a person has money they are a spoiled brat. People with money want the same things as everyone else. There's nothing wrong with wanting your parents to care more about you than a Porsche that doesn't need to be replaced.

Your parents are probably realists...buying a car, if they can afford it, is a smart decision with the economy these days. Flying is expensive. They probably don't mean they can't afford it, but that it isn't worth the money. Not saying they don't want to see you, but that they will wait until a holiday or break when they can see you for more then 2 days

I think the OP is trying to point out that the flights are too expensive and then they go to replace a relatively new and extremely expensive car. It's the fact that they are complaining of the cost and then spending a shitload of $$ replacing a perfectly good car that is bothering the OP.

I feel your pain. After refusing to let me attend the college I wanted to and finally changing his mind, the only time my father actually saw my campus - was the day I graduated.

all the people who are telling him/her to suck it up are pretty damn heartless. maybe he is grown up but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to see his parents every once in awhile. college is lonely sometimes, if I went to school far away I'd want to see my parents. Although, maybe you can drive the Porsche now. I feel your pain though, I go to school an hour and half from home and my family still thinks it's too much of a hassle to drop by and get lunch with me. I just don't have the kind of relationship with my family where it matters that much.

#26 and the other douches...I am a college student...its is nice to know your parents support you, rich has nothing to do with their relationship...if this person was spoiled and stuff they wouldnt care abt their parents and would just spend the money..i'm glad they care
