I'm gonna be honest. drs don't know all that much when it comes to women and their periods. they usually offer personal experience advice, say "that's normal", or go "I dunno." I'd wait it out if you started or got off of BC recently. Hormones could be all over the place. if after 3 months or if you become anemic I'd go to the Dr. and ask for some help. otherwise you're paying someone to not fix your problem.
I strongly disagree that doctors don't know anything about menstruation. Something similar happened to my Aunt and she ended up having ovarian cancer. It's better to be safe then sorry!
Yeah, it's not like they're medical professionals or anything.
ONGYN's know all about a woman's reproductive health. That means knowing about a woman's menstrual cycle and problems associated with it. An OBGYN will certainly not say that a 17 day cycle is normal. Or that starting again in 3 days after said 17 day period ended is normal.
first. I did not say they know nothing. obvs. they know something or they wouldn't have a job. second. they WILL say it is normal IF it has something to do with starting or stopping BC (which is what I was basing my post on) obvs if it happens randomly it isn't normal and can be a serious sign. the reason they say it is normal is because THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW AN INDIVIDUALS HORMONES ARE GOING TO REACT. Not yelling btw just a bold statement. So no it isn't normal if it happens for no reason but if it's in relation to BC (which again is what I was referring to)
This is just a comment since I don't have an idea what this is.
Boo hoo I had a period for 37 days cuz of my birth control. Ur not gonna die
Do u get cramps?
and Im late...really really late
You should definitely go to the doctor!
I would try a different doctor,I bled for 4 months until I saw a new doctor, some are just stubborn and don't listen properly, hope you get better soon!
Like everyone else has said, you need to go to a doctor. Find one that will test you for PCOS (Polysistic Ovarian Syndrome) and a full androgen test.
Periods that long could indicate something's not right, OP. Get to a doctor as soon as possible.
