Today, my rescue squad unit responded to a 911 call from a woman who felt she was going to pass out. We knocked on her locked door a couple times with no answer. Fearing she might be unconscious, I kicked in the door. She was about to open it and only passed out from the concussion I gave her. FML

Well, all you can do is the best you can! It should have occurred to her that if she called 911, she'd worry people by not answering right away...

ouch! wat did everyone else say bout that? i still think that it was good to forcfully open the door though

That's why you yell "We're going to kick in the door so step back!"

NOOOO YOU ASKED FOR THIS! I have two things to say to you: BSI/ SCENE SAFETY emphasis on SCENE SAFETY NEVER KICK IN A DOOR that's what the FD is for! or wait for PD to show up! Never enter a scene if you aren't sure if it is secure or not! just because the dispatch goes out for someone feeling dizzy does NOT mean that that's even what it's for! never do it again. Even as a "rescue squad" you should know these basic principles of emergency medical services. ...i hope you learned from this experience.

#32 way to steal that from family guy, nice plagiarism! also, sorry to hear about that OP, but you might just have a lawsuit on your hands...

#63 Before you get your panties in a wad, why don't you pay attention?? #30's user name is Shallow_Padentic so it doesn't necessarily mean that #32 was trying to plagiarize. Other than that, I say that lady needs to get some help..

See, as an EMT, I think you TOTALLY deserved that one. THIS IS WHY YOU ALWAYS CALL PD! They're much better at breaking shit down -- plus that way they get in trouble and not you :-) but I can't say that I haven't had similar stories -- patients are sometimes not too bright

Its ok you were just trying to do the right thing. I myself have knocked over plants and broken picture frames while in patient houses.
