Today, my rescue squad unit responded to a 911 call from a woman who felt she was going to pass out. We knocked on her locked door a couple times with no answer. Fearing she might be unconscious, I kicked in the door. She was about to open it and only passed out from the concussion I gave her. FML

Well, all you can do is the best you can! It should have occurred to her that if she called 911, she'd worry people by not answering right away...

hahaha i'm sorry, that's hilarious. hope she was okay in the end of course.

As an EMT as well, I have to admit; as much as this made me chuckle, its a little YDI. Even on a Resuce Squad, get PD/Dispatch on the radio and let them know you need to gain entry. Its a little stupid she didn't even say anything, at least a "Im here, hold on Ill open the door" would have been nice. #60 I agree scene safety, but even the FD doesn't have the authority to break down doors on a medical call unless PD orders it or (possibly) a Chief ok's it. Always Always ALWAYS call Dispatch and scene safety before you go breakin down doors. I hope you don't get sued.....but it is a little funny ;)....

I'm with #70 on this one (both in the point they made and that I'm an EMT). And it's shit like this that makes County EMS services look down on Rescue Squads. I'll refrain from raging online about this, though, because sometimes we just don't think clearly in certain situations.

You dick go **** urself that was my cousin
