It's your roommate's fault. If he knew about your fear, he should've known that would happen.
Depends on the species how much it costs, or a rare color.And unless you have an allergy to insect venom, the worst thing they do is flick irritating hairs at you, which can bother skin or eyes. I'd make you pay for my dead pet. Also, I live with a lagomorphobic roommate and moved in with a rabbit. He was scared of it but did not kill my pet. He even used her to conquer the fear.
