Today, my roommate, who has bipolar disorder and refuses to take his meds, tried to stab me with a kitchen knife because I threw out his moldy cheese. FML

Sounds familiar. It only escalates. My roommate, who had 60 pounds and a foot plus of height on me, went off his meds every few months. After two weeks, he'd corner me and scream and threaten me. I was broke and couldn't get another place w/out a deposit back, he'd always seemed "normal" to the landlord so she then ignored my calls, the police considered it a "lovers tiff" (um, he was gay, and I had a girlfriend...), and it was just a real mess. Ended up moving all my stuff out with friends while he was at work and hiding out for two weeks before moving in with someone that could and would wipe the floor with him. I couldn't PROVE he'd done a dang thing. I totally agree with the others. Call the cops. Don't hesitate to set up a recording device, even if sound-only. Take pictures of his meds and the amount in them NOT going down to show he's not taking them. And good luck! This is a total FYL. :(

Totally agree with you, if he isn't taking his med sort something out.

I think it might not be bipolar disorder he has...it normally doesn't involve threatening to stab people with knives...

Anybody comes at me with a knife better make sure I'm not lookin

Never, never, never, ever share a place with a known crazy person. I doesn't matter if the person is bipolar, manic depressive or a Skitzo

I had a bipolar roommate who pulled a gun on me in order to make sure I didn't use any of his silverware Wonderful night.
