Sadly, I knew this was a woman before I even checked the gender of the OP. Whenever I see an FML in which the person completely overreacts to, or gets frightened by a completely mundane thing without using common sense first, it always turns out to be a female.
Ah, Khatog, I fear they're victims of society. If TV and parents didn't raise their little girls to run screaming and crying from splinters and bees, we'd be better off as a society.
yup... I don't mean to be sexist, but that was my thought. Only a woman would do this.
Im a girl and I dont do that. I take taekwondo and have beat 30-40 year old men at taekwondo as well as men. And if i were to ever cry from them hitting me i would be told to suck it up. So not all women are like that. Then again my dads a fireman and I have grown up in the south where if you complain you are simply asked to suck it up and continue soing whatever your complaining about.
I'm pretty sure if this fyl had gone differently, something along the lines of the house burning down or injuries resulting, you guys would be YDI-ing that she took the time to wander around and check first instead of calling the FD. A little problem can get big fast, and it's better to be safe, imo.
this happens in Brooklyn all the time. we have a carbon monoxide law here in ny. I'm sure the city loses a lot more money than the law saves lives. in anycase fyl
you ******* moron
ermmm if the batteries were dead... ...how could it beep then?? BUSTED
There are some alarms that start randomly going off when the batteries are dying but not dead. In most cases they just chirp to let you know that the batteries need to be changed soon but I've had a couple that just started going off every few minutes because the batteries were old. In any case the OP didn't say the batteries were dead just that they needed to be changed.
Wait? Ur alarm went off and instead of checking if there was a fire u called the fire department? Yeah, u definitely deserve that one. What's wrong with u? I mean, WTF? Who does that? Don't wanna be mean but Jesus Christ.
haha not as bad as my cousin calling 911 for no reason and they came over to have "a little chat with him". I actually did the same thing but called 611 because i was so young and they still came to my house.

...Talk about an extreme reaction to a smoke alarm. You definitely deserved that one. Next time check and see what the hell is going on first. Most times it's just the alarm being stupid, which doesn't mean you have to be, too.
You know how busy the fire department would be if someone called 911 every time this happened? You deserved it for wasting their time.
