The bottom of a sofa is almost always sealed with some sort of fabric, nailed to the sofa. If you can remove those nails, chances are you can access some bolts and nuts. Take those off and you can probably bring the sofa inside in smaller pieces.
I don't know why you'd drive 8 hours in one day. I would've taken it to a friends house or a storage unit or something. You should obviously call the store or figure out their store hours....
Why don't you try to take it through the backdrop?

You don't sound like you're very good at thinking ahead hahaha
I've worked in the warehouse section of a furniture store for over 2 yrs now & all I ever hear is complaining by either sales people (regarding returns) or customers about furniture not fitting through the door...has nobody heard of using a tape measure PRIOR to buying that 12' sofa with 8' matching love seat or "big man's" recliner & measuring ALL dimensions of them as well as their door ways?

A measuring tape would've gone a long way...
Or you could measure your doorway before buying a piece of furniture.
