I think it is implied that the husband was not invited... also "distant relatives I've never heard of"... additionally, unless the fam has a strong income, the 7 grand sounds more like the wife is intentionally burning him knowing shell only have to pay at most 3.5 of it back. If she offers an explanation or something like that the story might change, but divorce is the gut reaction to being taken to the cleaners like this

Why is everyone saying "divorce her!"? She spent $7000 on a credit card, big deal. I know it's a lot of money, but is that really something to get divorced over? She took her kids somewhere. Is it not the OP's family too? It's just money. I do agree she should have discussed it with her husband first though, that's a little shady. But why didn't the husband go? These are questions that need answering.

Why the **** would the wife let her husband choose the underwear? She would just use the credit card to buy more that she likes. If he forced her to only buy the kind he likes, hey look there is a reason to file for divorce on the grounds that the husband is a controlling pervert.
