wow that sucks hardcore for you. guess you should, you know, not teach
For one common mistake?
For one common mistake which may not have been a mistake. If they were doing word problems or if the kids are too young to be taught the order of operations the kid was just being a smartass because he's ahead of the others. If not fair enough, correcting a teacher is hilarious.
I personally don't consider messing up something as simple and fundamental as pedmas a small mistake. the kid may or may not have been a wiseass that's irrelevant, however teachers who mis-spell, do basic math incorrectly, or make other mistakes on fundamentals are setting kids up with a poor foundation. I pay their salaries with my taxes, and I don't even have kids in the system. the least they can do is set the kids that will be paying my social security up with a good foundation.
We weren't taught order of ops until we were 11+ so any time before we had to know it at school we didn't used it. When I was 7 we did maths left to right, we were just learning the basics of multiplication etc. Really the kid is advanced for the syllabus they are being taught. At 7 I wouldn't have understood the order of operations and would not have needed to know it yet. So really OP wasn't doing anything wrong. Also you are not paying OP's salary..
that is the answer......^
