Today, one of my students corrected the problem I had solved on the board, explaining that you do multiplication before subtraction. I teach the second grade. FML

Not really. I live in Florida, and I learned multiplication in 2nd grade. Though I didn't learn order of operations until a later grade(not sure which).

PEMDAS P-parentheses E-exponents M-Multiplication (can be switched with division, but quite frankly, PEDMAS sounds more like a fiery foot fungus than a math tool) D-Division A-Addition(can be switched with subtraction, but I'm afraid you can not sound out PEMDSA, or at least not say it aloud, for fear of sounding dumb. "PEM-DUH-SA" or perhaps you have no fear. then by all means, flip and flop them as you please) S-Subtraction That is all:)
