Today, the bank called saying we were late in the mortgage payments. I was puzzled because three months ago I issued a big cheque to my mum pay off the mortgage. I just discovered that she instead lost it all at the casino. Turns out, she's become a compulsive gambler ever since dad passed away. FML

Today, the bank called to ask when were we going to make the mortgage payments for our family home. We were several months late. I had been transferring my mother the cash to make the mortgage payments after she lost her money gambling. She absolutely promised she would stop several months ago. I guess she lied. FML

Today, my mother asked me if she could borrow $200. Being the lovely daughter I am, I gave her my bank card to withdraw it herself. She gambled it away and maxed my bank account out. I had $1500 saved. FML

Today, I had to go cap in hand to my father-in-law to ask for a loan so I could pay the mortgage, so now he thinks I’m a useless bum who can’t support my family. The truth is it was his daughter the gambler who wasted all our savings, but I can’t bring myself to upset him by telling him the truth. FML

Today, I gave my mother a pre-prepared deposit envelope with my fortnightly wage in it, in cash. I tell her exactly where the deposit box is and what to do. I'm now desperately calling the bank because my mother accidentely put my $1200 deposit in the little trash can for receipts under the ATM. FML

yay! I;m always telling my friends that give their friends money for stuff in cash (like baby clothes for our pregnant druggie friend) that they should go with them and pay it up front and keep receipts. One of my friends finally learned when preggers asked for 500 dollars and showed up at three in the morning coked out.

Gambling is such an evil, evil thing! If your mum's at the stage of admitting she has a problem, get her some help, if she's in denial, hide all access to cash. Truly a FYL - casinos *pfft* I'd be quite happy if they were all demolished! .... yes, that is my emotional baggage cluttering up the footpath!

Crown have a Gaming liason manager provided as a free service. If your mum is serious about seeking help have her approach a pit boss or the liason manager and tell them she has a problem, they then legally have to help her.
