You don't deserve it, because if your boyfriend really liked you he would accept you the way you are. Do what #1 said and kick his ass to the curb.
I think the boyfriend was just joking. 40 or 50 lbs? That's an extraordinary amount of weight to lose. If he was serious, then YES this girl is too overweight.
@ #24, the fattest man in the world lost hmmm what 500 lbs? in a couple of years, sooo yeah its not THAT much of an extraordinary amount of weight to lose.
The less you weigh the harder it is to loose weight.
#18, its not only genetics that have increased our obesity rate in America. Hormones that are put into our food to preserve it longer contribute to that as well as new technology. There are more obese children in our society right now than ever before and this is because of video games, computers, etc. and parents have a higher concern for their children being outdoors because of crime rates that are on the increase. A lot of kids are staying indoors now, and the foods that our society eats doesnt help the situation. Also, the pharmaceutical industry contributes to the obesity rates. Many of our medications cause people to retain water-weight, such as birth control, which is also on the rise. More people take the birth control pill than ever before in our history. There are many factors that add into the rise of obestiy rates, and genetics is only one of them.
@25: Yeah, but he had surgery. I starved my way through 40 or 50 pounds in four months, but I actually don't even remember what happened during that time - I was eating so few calories that I kept falling asleep. I once actually passed out and hit my head on a radiator. And because of that, I don't burn more than 800 or so calories at most per day. The adult recommended calorie intake is 2000-2500. And people who are fat aren't always lazy. Trust me, they've probably been on more diets than thin people ever will be, and when they're older, they'll know how to control themselves. The "naturally thin" ones will probably all balloon.
People saying it's her fault for being "Fat," that's just disgusting. Once you gain weight, it feels almost impossible to lose it. Like someone said previously, "Fat" people aren't always lazy.
This is hilarious. If I lost 40 or 50lbs, I'd be dead. Maybe it's time for you to hit the gym, do some yoga or something.
you politically correct tarts if she's fat, then she's fat... it doesn't matter if it's genetics or what. Aside from extraordinary cases which are very rare, even if you have a predisposition to being overweight does NOT mean you can't go on a diet and exercise to lose weight. Everyone has a different metabolism rate, but that's not an excuse. And if the boyfriend thought that 40 or 50 lbs was a good goal, we can assume that this girl is VERY overweight... in which case, the boyfriend is a GREAT GUY for sticking with her. FYL for not taking care of your body... at least you seem to have a boyfriend that loves you for your personality and will stay with you even when you're a fat lard.
Well, actually it matters if you have a fast or slow metabolism since it'se easier to gain weight if you have a slow one, and you then have to put twice the effort and thought to not gain weight. Asshole
To all you people commenting about fat people not being able to lose weight, I direct you here: www.google.com There are so many stories of people losing incredible amounts of weight, and so many exercise and diet plans (try the food pyramid, for starters). It's not a complex task, although it does take a lot of determinaion. Eat right and be active. And don't lie to yourself about how much you eat and exercise. Exaggerating the truth only hurts you and no one else. The simple formula to losing weight: Calories eaten < Calories burned. Motivation and perseverance are the key.

That's when you respond with, "Actually, I meant dye-it, as in my hair. But you're right, I DO need to lose weight - about 250* lbs of it. In other words: it's over. Get.out." *or whatever boyfriend's weight is
I can't stand that people act like she's committed some horrible sin for not being a size 2. If it's easy for all of you to be skinny, that's really awesome, but for some of us it's a real struggle. I've been fighting to stay a size 8 since I was in my early teens, because I just lost the genetic lottery and got a sucky metabolism. I don't stuff my face (I actually also have IBS, so I can't eat very greasy or rich things), and I'm very sensitive about because I can't stand when I'm feeling down about my weight and people act like I've made some conscious decision to not be a stick. That's not how it works. So shut the **** up. And OP, this guy is an ass, dump him. I'm lucky enough to have a cute boyfriend who doesn't like women with the physique of small boys. The one really awesome thing about not being a size 2: I have boobs. :D
