I'm pretty sure you can get STD's without actually having sex. Like sitting on a public toilet that someone with an STD sat on or something. It's a long shot, but it's possible. Let your doctor treat the STD, and if it doesn't work you can always try something else.
I'm pretty sure that's an urban legend...
You can't get an STD from seating on a public toilet seat... That's an urban legend. STDs have that name because they are sexually transmitted. End of story.
Wrong. You CAN get STD's/STI's from a toilet seat, or someone shaking your hand and you touching your genitals without washing your hands first. Or trying on one of your girl frind's bikini. Many possibilities. And I know this stuff for sure. Some things are just more contagious than other.
People thinking that STD's can ONLY be transmitted through sex makes me think common sense isn't that common...
Katties - This has very little to do with common sense and more to do with actual medical knowledge, of which I have a feeling you have little. It is merely a theoretical possibility of catching an STD from a toilet seat, but the real risk is very close to zero. The situation would have to be a perfect storm of disease transmission.
People get a lot of bad diseases from dirty needles too. Not that OP is doing drugs intravenously, but it's just another example of how STD's can be transmitted without sex.
20, You can, because some of those diseases are transferred via body fluids. By the way, I've read an interesting story in medical book once: A guy contracted STD, but didn't ever have sex with anybody. It turned out he kissed girl he liked, and that girl has been very sexually active and had a lot of oral sex (she was a "technical virgin", if I remember correctly). So she got STD from somebody and gave it to this unlucky dude via kiss. Cool story, right?
Yeah, bodily fluids are sometimes left on toilet seats, but viruses, such as HIV, can't survive when exposed to air. That's why they're SEXUALLY Transmitted Diseases, not Airborne Transmitted Diseases.
Hep C is technically an STD. Yet lots of people get it from sharing needles while doing drugs, not having sex. Crabs and herpes can also be spread with out sexual activities. You guys need to do your research and not just assume that just because its called an STD it can ONLY be spread through sex.
Things like BV can be considered an STI but you can get it from other reasons besides sex. Also, STDs and STIs can be spread orally.
66, I think most of us here agree that there are many ways to contract an STD, but only the most misinformed believe that you can get STDs from toilet seats.
It is called SEXUALLY transmitted disease. Just because you know these things doesn't mean to world needs to.
To all those above who are saying you can't get an STD unless you are having sex. Please do at least some basic research before commenting. First off, it's possible to have had oral contact and still be a virgin. This counts as sexual contact in the case of STD's. Kissing someone may not be sexual to you, but you can still contract Herpes. Secondly, there are several parasitic STD's which can survive for several hours outside the human body, after which you can contract the STD. For example Trichomonas vaginalis and/or crabs...
Its not
When you say "virgin" are you including all of your holes in that statement? ;)
Your picture will give me and many people nightmares
You're welcome. You know, some people have to pay good money at the box office for that kind of scare.
Sex does not necessarily involve penetration...
Oral sex. Either someone putting a dick in their mouth or vag on their lips Anal sex, penetration of the ass. Lube is recommended And a personal favorite, vaginal sex, where a man inserts his penis into the vaginal canal of a women. All those require penetration. Anything else is grinding rubbing or dry humping. Commonly called foreplay. Thank you for reading sex for dummies
93, Handjob, Rimjob, Titjob/Paizuru, Thighjob/Dryhump, Mutual masturbation, Vibrator (the one that's not *****) play, BDSM, Heavy petting. Damn children. No imagination and no knowledge, but lots and lots of arrogance.
No no no. She didn't mean sexually transmitted disease, she meant Seahorse Touching Disorder. I have it too, nothing to be ashamed of.
Hey, plenty of people on here have the opposite problem.
You can have an STD while still being a technical virgin. Some people think oral sex is not sex (?) but you can sure get STD's that way. Kissing can give you herpes, an STD, and fondling naked can give STD's without penetration. All while being a technical virgin.
If you have problems for a month, you're doing it wrong.
Sorry OP, but you CAN get STD's without having sex. It really sucks as one should think that that's at least ONE thing that's good with not having sex with a lot of people :/ Maybe you're just too pretty and your doctor didn't believe you ;)
33 - There are plenty of ugly people having sex out there. Attractiveness does not constitute someone's virginity or lack thereof.
Like I don't know that - most of the people having sex very early are actually... nothing special. So much for trying to cheer up OP a little |:/
Even I don't believe you.
there are stds that you can get without sex.. ie the herps
I understand where you're coming from about the whole virgin thing. I stayed a virgin until I was 23. I just wasn't ready before. You really should look for a new Dr. The one you have is clearly an ass.

Ain't no shame in being a virgin. That's such a good thing to hear these days
27 is okay. When you're 40, that's when they start making movies about your life.
