Must be haunted.
When co workers or (worse yet, employees in stores) make a rude comment about someone, I just make shit up, "that's my cousin/neighbor, he/she is really cool. But I don't think he/she heard what you said about him/her. I'll go get her." And quite often, I do, just so the co worker/employee has a chance to tell exactly what they said. If they try to lie, I let the other person know. And no, they don't try that one again. You got what you deserved keep your mouth shut next time.
