Today, whilst on a date I recieved my sixth missed call from my mother. I excused myself and went outside and called her, she and my father wanted to know why I was having dinner and holding hands with another man. It turns out they were also on a date. At the same place. FML

Your parents must not have been too upset - at least they didn't barge over to your table and demand to know what was up.

why is everyone so intolerant of homosexuals, and why does everyone talk about it like its a choice. its not a choice, its who a person is, and they have no say in which gender they prefer. im not gay, but i have nothing against people who are. and everyone who cites the bible as an excuse for intolerance, it also says that wives can be killed for cheating on their husbands and that envy is a deadly sin. so i guess anyone who has ever felt jealosy is just as "wrong" as gay people. finally, as many of you already knew, feminist19 is a tool.

@pharmboy32: You have it all wrong. Allow me to explain, point-by-point: * "I hate living in a world where you have to accept everyone for what they are UNLESS what you are happens to be considered the majority." - Feel free to rephrase this so that it actually makes a lick of sense. You claim subsequently that the majority of people are male Christian WASPs - so male Christian WASPs aren't accepted? What an odd idea. * "Apparently it is ok to have an opinion that homosexuality and moral disregard is ok" - No one said anything about moral disregard being okay. If you're trying to synthesize the two, you're just reinforcing the stereotype you're trying to prevent! * "If my belief that homosexuality is wrong is intolerant, your belief that I am intolerant is by definition is intolerant." - No, if your belief is intolerant, than that's a fact (by definition of the word "is"). If your belief is believed to be intolerant, believing it to be intolerant is not being intolerant (by your own definition of "intolerant"). * "I hate that I can't voice an opinion anymore without being attacked by some Liberal group about my personal beliefs." - Ever heard of the Ku Klux Klan? Think of how irritated their members must be right now: they can't even voice their opinions anymore without being labeled "racists" (which they are, obviously). * "I do have friends that are homosexual. Some of which i knew of before we were friends and some I found out about afterwards." - Some of which i knew before we were friends? What? * "THAT (persecution of minorities) is completely wrong." It has not always been thought so. For more information, Google the term "moral zeitgeist".

I think we all just need to stfu and stop commenting on his FML. If you want to join a gay/straight debate or a debate on whether God loves them the same or thinks of them differently then go to a freaking website meant for that. Leave the man alone.

boatkicker 4

Do you happen to know one? Or any website meant for debate of any sort? I very much enjoy intelligent debate, and when I can't find that, I deal with whatever I can get (FML usually).

One more thing. Being gay is a choice. Read the bible. NO one is born gay, everyone is born the same. No matter what tool says differently. Like i've said, i have nothing against gays, i have nothing bad to say about them, i don't support them. But it's definately a choice. So all the research you read that says it's chemical is all lies. Go ttalk to a real pastor, priest, pope anything and they'll tell you its' a choice.

Repguy27 0

What you're saying is all true; however, I myself am extremely against them. They are abomination s as stated in the Bible.

333reds333 0

right, because a pastor or priest know much more about the brain than a scientist..... all the research is lies, its just a government sham, just like evolution, right? the only thing we can believe is the bible, which was sent to us directly by God and is meant not to be taken symbolically, but exactly word-for-word, and should be the law. also, we should all have sex with our siblings and cousins and have 22 kids with our sister and name them all Jeb. we should shoot children who trespass on our property and smoke cigars in the fields with our 22 kids. then we can kill all the minorities. i didnt think anyone could be more of a tool than feminist19, but you have dethroned her. congratulations.

Wouldn't a designer have a better sense of design than a police officer? Why don't you ask an actual homosexual if it's a choice? I know many people who in the years they suffered in the closet would've paid to to be straight.

"Them", as if they're scented markers or reality television shows. They're people, too, for christ's sake. You know, "Love thy neighbour"? Or does that part of the bible not interest you as much as the part that backs up the hatred you already have in your body for a minority?

Repguy27 0

@215 Then nobody cares we are talking about the Bible here and our religion.

"Our" religion? Is everyone on this thread a Christian? Maybe they've just studied the Bible. You don't know.

Here comes a minority-The Ignostics As an ignostic, I say that to assume everyone you talk to is the same religion as you means that things that are different than you're belief just don't make any sense so anyone smart enough to talk to you must believe it. This also means that you are insecure about your belief and henceforth need to brainwash yourself with religious dogma to convince yourself that you can just go to heaven when you die to comfort yourself.

Agnostic. Just for future reference. People will be more likely to take you seriously if you can spell your own belief system properly. I honestly mean no ill will with this.

Um, ignosticism exists. Look it up, silly.

say 'ydi for being gay' and I will cut your bigoted tongue out.

Regreattably enough, you're going to need a lot of knives.

Why couldn't she just use one knife on multiple people? Sure it's a bit unsanitary, but if you're cutting out peoples' tongues, you're probably not too concerned with their well-being.

It's rather morbid, but... if one of them had HIV, and then you used the knife to cut out further tongues, then the rest would have a high probability of getting it as well. It would be almost poetic, in a sad kind of way, considering at least some of them have said in their lives "you got aids because you're a gay abomination" to or about someone in their lives.

Jeez, and here I was thinking mild mouth infection at worst. Okay, what about a compromise: full sterilization of the knife between each tongue-cutting?

Agreed, we will sterilize the knife. I wouldn't -really- wish HIV on anyone, it was simply hypothetical poetic justice.

Of course. If it were to happen, the ironing would be delicious. But it wouldn't really help in the long run.

That was the cutest typo ever! :D You meant "irony" but you said ironing... and... I just pictured an orderly in the hospital with all these tongue-less HIV cases, and a pile of their laundry and sheets all needing ironing. :D

Oh no! Sorry to disappoint, but it was actually a rather obscure Simpsons reference, rather than a typo. I've been living with a friend and fellow Simpsons fan for almost 9 months, with many quotes being flung back and forth. It's hard to get that habit out of my head! Regardless, your mental picture made me laugh too.

Haha, that's neat. Simpsons are cool. I'm not too up on it myself, as my mother was nuts and didn't allow me to watch it as a child, so when I did it was in secret and very rare. :P

I find it amusing that the ironing will be DELICIOUS to people who have no tongues.

#276: Yeah, I never was really allowed to watch it for a while either. But as soon as I was, I pretty much caught up on everything I missed. #338: Well I meant it would be delicious to us, the supporters of homosexuality, who would in this hypothetical situation still have our tongues. Nonetheless, your thought is hilarious. It's like a double-layered cake of irony. (Mmmmmmm, double-layered cake of irony...)

This is an honest, serious question. Why do the FMLs related to gays devolve into these bible-driven hate fests? While I have no desire to have some guy cram his dick up my ass, why do any of you care so much about what other people are doing? I'll leave the discussion about whether there is a god and my thoughts on what that being's intentions may be alone, but all religion in practice today is socially-contrived and based on the acceptable norms of the time they were created BY MAN (God didn't write a book people). A little tolerance of people who are different would go a long way towards making this world a little less shitty.

Because it's the internet. People can let out opinions here that would get them skewered in real life.

God, it's ******* World War III in here!

Yeah, this thread should probably be closed soon....

It really did. I, unfortunately, do not have it in me to just leave arguments like this alone. I know they would stop if all of the defenders did nothing, but I just can't, and thus the fighting will continue until someone stops it. Unfortunately, there's no mod to close debates in real life... *sigh*

How are you ignorant? By not being a homosexual. It's as simple as that. You have no idea what I, or my people go through. We have to live in constant fear of becoming the new poster child of homophobia; the next Matthew Shepard, the next Lawrence King. We have to live in fear of the fact that if we were to enter certain countries (i.e. Saudi Arabia, Syria), we would automatically be put to death. Simply being an ally can never give you a perspective of what my life, or my peer's lives are like, just as how I can never truly know what your life, as a heterosexual, or for that matter, your peer's lives are like. Remember, it's all about perspective. To you, as a heterosexual, the homosexual is the villain. To a homosexual, the heterosexual is the villain. But you wanna know who really is the villain? Neither of them, at least in my opinion. The son obviously didn't feel comfortable with his sexuality around his family. But his family obviously doesn't feel comfortable with the son's sexuality. It's not about being a bad parent or about being a bad son. It's about fear and confusion.

Every bigot that uses skin color, religion gender, sexual orientation or money to make them feel better than someone else should not be allowed to speak or have an opinion.
