Tuck in

Today, I was told by my doctor I should start eating meat again after two years of vegetarianism, in an effort to be healthier. After horrid gas after my first turkey sandwich, I was told that my body no longer has the enzymes to digest meat. My efforts to be healthy crippled my stomach. FML

Talk to said doctor and get enzyme supplements. Orrr create animal shaped vege products and call it a day.

Your body should start producing them again, eventually. Until then, your body will have a beef with you.

You sure the sandwich wasn't just spoiled or something? I had to give up vegetarianism after a year and a half due to financial reasons(the vegetarian-made foods were too expensive) and I could eat a chic-fil-a sandwich just fine.

You can try to build them up by taking probiotics...maybe? Did they say there is no chance of recovery? I'm so curious now I'm going to look it up. Good luck.

Protein powder? Once you go one way it's hard to go back

This whole thing is odd to me. Vegetables contain all the nutrients meats do. Spinach has all the protein you need, for example. Just eat healthier vegetables and you'll be all set.

Oh look, another person who thinks he knows more than OP's doctor. How about you stop giving medical advice to someone you don't know. There is a reason OP's doctor told them to start eating meat again.

eat healthier as a vegetarian...ensure you get all the nutrients and all of that good stuff. i dont get why the doctor didn't tell you to eat better first instead of going back to meat

Humans are not herbivores. We're omnivores. Who decided that vegetables are somehow healthier for humans than meat is? What's their reasoning for believing that?

Meat is healthy for building muscles for protein

From what I've found, you get the occasional doctor who likes to throw that out, because they don't approve of vegetarianism or they have a patient who is an idiot and isn't eating fruits, vegetables, or protein like nuts, eggs, or tofu. You don't need meat to be healthier OP. If you're worried about protein, eat more protein. If you're worried about iron, things like leafy greens are great sources
