Need some inspiration? Never crush. NEVER. Who crushes, anyhow? Children. Middle school kids. Are you a child? Do you want to be a child, anymore? If you're crushing, you're only allowing the possibilities for stuff to go wrong, feelings to go unrequited, or let yourself down by putting him/her on a pedestal. Ever hear that song "Centerfold"? Either friend, date, screw, or marry. Never crush. After all, they're only human, nobody particularly special, just like you.

To put it in less drastic and less condescending words: If you develop a crush on another person, act on it, the sooner, the better. Crushing is pretty much OK for a couple of days or weeks until you find out more about that person or find a chance to talk in privacy to ask them out. Months or even years sound really excessive. If you invest that much emotion over such a long period of time, the heartbreak, if the person doesn't like you back, is going to be much worse than if it had only been a week or two. Or, as OP now found out, the person DOES like you back, but none of them ever made a move? She is now with the "second best" guy, for one reason alone: he had the guts to ask her out before OP did.

At least now you know. Also, I've heard that your girlfriend leaving for another guy can be more painful than a punch. You may have a chance for the perfect revenge, just make sure that you organize a restraining order beforehand, haha.
