Waitressing blues

By left out - This FML is from back in 2014 but it's good stuff - United States - Spencer

Today, I sang "Happy Birthday" to my best friend. Sadly, it was while waitressing at work, where they were having a celebration I hadn't been invited to in the first place. FML

I'm not sure you're really best friends...

Maybe she knew you would be working there and that you wouldn't be able to eat with them but that you'd at least be able to see her? I hope that's the case.

How busy can this "friend" be not to be able to plan the birthday at a time where OP would have been free ? I don't like rushing to conclusions, but she sounds like a mean bitch to me.

Servers have crazy hours. Getting off nights and weekends are tough. Hopefully this was more of a they couldn't get everyone together at the same time type thing, so they would just go to op's job. My mum did that once when I served. I served her birthday party. I had no idea about a party, but at least they tipped well.

Well, time for a new best friend. What a bitch thing to do. Hope you smashed cake in her face.

Even if it was a really mean thing to do, I think smashing the cake into her face is taking it a bit too far.

Should've given her an evil look the whole time! Sorry OP!

Yes. That's mature and would've really made OP's best friend regret not inviting her!

Just throwing this out there, but is it possible OP wasn't invited because the best friend knew she had work?

Even if she knew her best friend had to work, a heads up would have been nice.

Maybe she knew you had to work since she went to the restaurant you work at.
