OP, did you get a good gratuity (tip) out of that?
Doesn't sound like best friend...
Well, did your friend tell you s/he were going to be there for their b-day party or did they just pitch up? This makes all the difference.
Did she ask you for the discount?
Could have easily been that your best friend knew you were working on their birthday, and just had the party at the restaurant where you work so you could be a part of it.
Doesn't sound like a best friend to me
OP didn't you think that your friend knew that you were going to be at work? Don't you think that she chose to go to the restaurant to surprise you so that you didn't miss out on the party? Don't always look at the negative be happy that you got to celebrate your best friends birthday for a bit instead of being stuck at work. Long story short YDI.
Thats not celebrating your best friends birthday. Thats taking their order for 30 seconds then leaving.
Yeah, if she's an uninvolved server. Good servers enhance the guest experience by delivering personalized service. Some tables prefer us to bring them food and drinks and little else. Others you can be involved, talk to them about more than the damn menu. If I was waiting on someone I know, you can guarantee I will be involved in their dining experience. Unless I'm weeded. That sucks. :x
Maybe she didn't invite you because she knew you'd be there working.
