At least tell us what you did to get canned. It might help explain what otherwise looks like unnecessarily harsh treatment.
There is more to this story than you're letting on. TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE!
The Ontario Labour Code says that all permanent employees past their 3 month probation are entitled to a proper warning process (verbal, written, final, term), otherwise you can sue the company.. for more than what you lost... Even if you were temping or on contract, it's illegal to not give you sufficient time to pick up your stuff
Actually, some businesses would. I heard about one business, when they had to start laying people off but were afraid that resentful employees would steal information or office supplies if they had a chance, so they had a fire drill and once everyone was outside, they made an announcement that if their key-card won't let them back inside, it means that they no longer have a job and that their things would be mailed to them.
how did you know what the note said if the note was in the box that was donated.?
I misunderstood what you wrote. It was the door that said " if not picked up by 10:00am...".

Sounds unprofessional. :/
#6 and 7- he found out he was fired because they put his stuff by the door. reason for termination is yet unknown. OP- that sounds very unprofessional of your job. might even violate some business laws. not a lawyer but I would look into it just in case.
