Your manager is the ultimate douchebag.
If you had been eating the stock it doesn't sound like it's to healthy.

FYL, OP. Your manager is a dick. But seriously I hope you're okay.
Damn right it's time for a new job. If I were treated like that knowing that I have a serious condition and my manager treats me that way I would quit and report him/her to the HR.
I know your pain OP. One time I was in the middle of a test when my blood sugar dropped so low that I could hardly stand up, but my teachers refused to let me go get something to eat. Then they failed me and tried to have me suspended for "causing a scene" after I passed out. Not many people understand how serious diabetes can be. Sorry OP, I would report the manager to HR and see what they can do
Wow, that is absolutely horrid #6! God I hope someone did something about those teachers, as much as I hope OP left his job or something..
This would happen to my ex as well, it wasn't until his mum went into the school and complained that they actually started taking it seriously. And then he would just take the piss and eat in class when others had been told off... :/
The teacher I had that day was a substitute. She was, of course let go, and told to never come back. Now I just carry something in my backpack at all times and if my teachers say something about me eating in class, I pull out my blood sugar meter and tell them if they have a problem, they can call my doctor about it. I haven't had any problems since that day
I'm glad she was told to f off. Some people take their job so seriously that they end up doing the stupidest things to look professional.
When I worked for McDonalds, the customer care (dining area attendant) manager had diabetes. Everyone in the store knew that she took her tablet at 2pm and her break at 3pm. One day, this asshat manager (who is now actually standing as my local Member of Parliament) decided that he would refuse to let her go on break. His reason was essentially because he could not be bothered to provide cover for her break (he viewed the dining area staff as unimportant). She ended up being rushed to hospital in an ambulance without so much as an apology from the manager in question. Unfortunately for him though, stories like this have come back to haunt him. I mentioned that he is standing as my local MP. Well, I work in the local media :p.
My brothers the same but with just low blood sugar, at a fire drill one day I had to go around to all my friends and find something for him to eat and then the teachers wouldn't send him home so I had to call my mom and make them let him go home.
What that sub did to you was awful. However, what I have run into dealing with diabetic students as a substitute teacher is almost as bad. There are two kids in particular who will say they have to get their sugar checked during *every* class. The nurse has to check it if they say they're dizzy or fatigued, even if they are clearly faking, and a friend of mine was put on suspension when he didn't let one of them leave until after he had taken a quiz. The kid was fine, mind you, but his mom raised Cain.
These stories are insane! I never realized how life threatening diabetes could be until my brother had to go to the hospital this month for DKA, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, after an infection and he almost died. People tend to think that diabetes affects people more seriously when they are older. It seems there needs to me more education out there on the matter. And 40, after what happened to my brother and some of the other stories just mentioned, I would be very careful in assuming the students are faking it. Even if they are, it's only their grades affected by skipping class. :)
40 - I have to check my numbers every few hours, and if they've been funny it could well be every class or at the same time every day. Even if theyre "faking", please dont ever discourage the testing or shame them. Sometimes you're not sure if you need to check and its easy to get self conscious.
@40 Don't assume someone is faking it just to leave class. Some people will use their diabetes as an excuse, but if these students are like me, they might get nervous about their blood sugar levels and want to check often. I check mine in every class, but my school allows me to carry my meter with me so I don't have to leave. I would only say they are faking it if I knew for a fact that their sugar levels were good, and that they didn't do anything to effect it in the past few hours
I can totally relate as a diabetic myself. We all need to unite against ignorance
The problem is, these two kids really *are* faking it. They don't even hide the fact that they are just doing it to ditch class, and their teachers can't dock them points and, on occasion, have to make up study guides especially so these two can dick off. Even the school nurse, who worries about the students more than any other person in the school, acknowledges that they do not need to miss nearly as much class. On the flipside, a couple of kids who really do need to check their sugar every class have doctor's notes allowing them to have testing materials in each of their classrooms. If their numbers come up as off they go to the nurse and get it sorted and then they're right back in class.
#64 wouldn't letting all the kids have testing materials be a better solution? Then they don't miss class to check and have more control over their sugars.
So in the eyes of that asshat, it's your fault either way. Seems like no excuse would work. I hope you can find another job, and when you do, I'd recommend slapping the **** right in the throat.
You're manager is an asshole, OP. I'd start looking somewhere else.
*Your
Well, we know you didn't get the sugar from your manager, because he's sour.
Wah wah wah wah waaaaaah! Lol!
Maybe he's got to much ass in his blood stream do they have meds for that??
