Alas, poor Stuart

Today, while standing by the kitchen window I noticed a mouse running across our lawn on top of the snow. I called my two daughters to come see it, but by the time they got to the window a hawk was shredding the poor thing to pieces. My kids didn't stop crying for two hours. FML

That sounds like a traumatic experience, especially if they had just finished watching Ratatouille or something. I totally would have cried.

Theres a line between not caring about the life of a rodent and being sadistic. You crossed it.

Yeah, no shit. A two hour cry session over a flippin' mouse? Give me a break lady.

Little kids don't particularly understand death. It can be scary when it comes from no where like that. Even if it's something as natural as a mouse and hawk.

thats part of living the hawk has to eat too .

YDI for indoctrinating your kids into believing that wild mice are "cute," instead of the disease-carrying vermin they are. You didn't get a friendly visit from ******* Mickey Mouse, you have rodent infestation. Your kids should be thanking the hawk for keeping them safe and healthy.

I got a visit from Mickey Mouse and now I have this unexplainable rash in my groin area, so I agree with your advice.

Yet I'm sure you feed them hamburgers and they don't bat an eye. and if that mouse was in your house you wouldn't hesitate to put a few traps out. Welcome to the real world kids, get some tougher skin. What you saw was NATURE. Don't raise your kids to be pansies. YDI for thinking mice are anything but miniature germ factories.

Mother nature, thou art a heartless bitch. Just sit your kids in front of Animal Planet for a while. A couple hours later they'll either be rooting for the predators (no more whining) or become vegetarians (cheaper food), it's a win-win situation. :-)

Vegetarian food is just as, if not more expensive than, carnivorous food.

Varies by country I guess, or the poor Chinese farmers would eat meat instead of vegetable-rice every day. And also varies by the quality of meat and the quality of vegetables. Bio-vegetables are surely more expensive than a can of SPAM, but a steak costs a lot more than any vegetarian food I've ever seen.

Uh... please ignore this comment. For some reason I thought you said vegetarian food was more expensive than steak. Then I re-read your comment and felt like an idiot. Sorry Dear.

If the kids are girls the they are normal by crying etc!! Boys need to be HUNTERS and ready to kill at a moments notice! Thats nature!

that's a little sexist... Women can be hunters and men can be pansy losers. Nature has changed for humans so it's a bad example.
