What the hell is wrong with you? You deserve to be fired and to lose your teaching license or whatever you need to teach in the UK. Your job is to make sure those kids are safe not act like a college student on spring break. Hopefully you won't be allowed to supervise children again. You just flunked life.
YDI. Don't drink on the job. I'm pretty sure they don't pay you to drink on school trips.
I do believe they have AA in England. If this isn't a bottom I don't know what is.
Half a mo' - can you hear that? *waits in silence* Yup, it's the world's smallest and most quiet violin playing My Heart Bleeds for You. You should save your boozin' for after the trip, OP. You only brought it on yourself.
I totally agree with Diogen. Your arse should be fired. You were on the trip to supervise students on a trip for which the school was paying for. And what an example to set the students. I hope you had to pay the cost of the replacement flight and I hope that you seriously think about what you did and never repeat it. There is a time and place for getting drunk and it happening while being on a school trip isnt one of them.
I sure as hell hope you don't teach English. 4 A.M. in the morning? 1 P.M. in the afternoon? NO, REALLY? I figured it was 1 P.M. in the MORNING. OP, you fail. Firing would be too kind.
they were just like, reinstating how stupid/bad etc they felt.
honestly, any type of story that is similar to: blah blah blah+and i drank too much...blah blah blah = YDI
what the **** is the matter with you? I hope you get fired.
FFS guys, obviously it's YDI for the OP, and going out on a night of heavy drinking is a pretty bad thing to do on a school trip, but that's not to say she left a bunch of kids alone while she did it. There could have been other teachers, and it's quite common on school trips abroad for teachers to take turns being "on duty" so that the others can take a night off to relax. Stupid, yeah, but saying she should be arrested is overreacting a bit. Having said that, drinking yourself into a stupor and waking up in a closet the night before you have a plane to catch is a fairly terrible idea, no matter what profession you are.

As a secondary school teacher myself, I would never even touch a drop of alcohol on a school trip - you are ALWAYS "on duty", even after lights out. You deserve it, and you will probably be fired. No sympathy here.
If you were my kids teacher, I'd do everything i could to get your sorry ass fired.
