Today, I met and asked a cute girl out on a date. We decided to meet at a fancy restaurant downtown. When I got there I saw her sitting with what turned out to be her parents. They made a huge scene, calling me a pedophile and a low-life. Apparently, the girl was 16 years-old. I'm 25. FML

Does anyone else get irritated when someone is attracted to someone else who is SEXUALLY mature but underage and gets called a pedophile. Do people not get what a pedophile is? There's a difference between perv and pedo.

Strangely, when she's 18, it won't matter you're 9 years ahead. But yes, as Tayrn said, you have to find out. Unless you met in a place where you could mroe safely assume it (bar, college campus, etc), then that's a FYL.

Damn, everyone commenting on this is cold as ice. Isn't too hard to see what happened: Dude meet a girl, dude asked a girl out. The thought didn't even occur to him that she was under 18. Hell, he probably thought she was around his own age and was shocked as all hell when her parents went after him. You don't ******* ask a woman how old she is right off the the bat if you think she is a "woman." Dude got unlucky in a big way.

Must notta been livin' in NC very long, then, eh?

Hmm? What? It's not too much of a problem if he's shooting blanks.

hey do you want to go out for dinner. hehe sure you know what! what? Chuck E Cheese has new toys.

I know a few 16 year olds who wear a crap ton of make-up, skimpy clothes and hooker heels that make them look like 21+ year old bar skanks. These are high school sophomores and they do actually lie about their age to get older men. You can't blame this guy too much for his mistake. Also, a woman has three important numbers: Phone, weight, age...and it is EXTREMELY rude to ask the last two in your first conversation. This is thanks to the lies and stupidity we flood our society with that make many women believe that they must be borderline anorexic and 21 forever or they aren't pretty enough to get a date.

Actually, none of those are important to me. I hate phones, and I don't see the big deal with the latter two.... I've gotten smacked a few times for asking about ages. I was genuinely curious, so what? :c

well girls get really self consious about their wieght and age. If their not the perfect age or perfect weight they dont feel sexy or confident, which is wrong because it dosnt really matter bout your age and weight but this is how woman and girls think so you have to try and see it from a girls point of veiw. :(

Dame, I'm not saying that's always the case with every woman on Earth, so you don't need to get that defensive about it. I'm sorry if I offended you, but I was just making a generalization for brevity's sake.

no no no dont worry, i can understand thats whats you think about them numbers, but i was just telling this DameGreyWolf fella why these are so important to a woman because he dosnt see whats wrong with it and how girls see themselves. :(

Eh, I don't agree with that mentality either. I was just pointing out what most people consider normal.

if there's grass on the field, play ball

Does that apply to the little girls who are unlucky enough to start puberty at 12, how about 10? And I hope to god you wouldn't put that rule to the girls who start at 6. Most girls are physically too small to survive pregnancy and birth until they're about 13 or 14 and even that young is pushing it. That bleed/breed mentality has gotten scores of little girls in underdeveloped areas of the world killed because they're bodies weren't able to support two growing lifeforms.

Ah...I was 16 and my boyfriend was 24 when I met, and now I'm 17 and he's 25...luckily in England, the age of consent is 16, and 16 is hardly a young or innocent age :D

But what could you possibly have in common with someone who's almost ten years older than you? Granted, I'm all for the age of consent being sixteen but I think anyone who's 25 and dating somebody who's 16 is probably just in it for the sex. You're in high school while he's out in the real world. You guys are at completely different stages in your lives. If it works for you, cool, but I wouldn't use that as an example for a normal, healthy relationship.

pedophile? guess that has been already mentioned - age of consent in NC is 16.
