Chris Hansen time

Today, I met and asked a cute girl out on a date. We decided to meet at a fancy restaurant downtown. When I got there I saw her sitting with what turned out to be her parents. They made a huge scene, calling me a pedophile and a low-life. Apparently, the girl was 16 years-old. I'm 25. FML

Does anyone else get irritated when someone is attracted to someone else who is SEXUALLY mature but underage and gets called a pedophile. Do people not get what a pedophile is? There's a difference between perv and pedo.

Strangely, when she's 18, it won't matter you're 9 years ahead. But yes, as Tayrn said, you have to find out. Unless you met in a place where you could mroe safely assume it (bar, college campus, etc), then that's a FYL.

You should have apologized and then asked her mom out on date.

LOL!!!!! OP, it's not your fault. I would have just asked the parents to leave so I could take their daughter back to my place.

You don't exactly ask someone their age when you ask them out, and I know 14 year olds who look at least as old as me and I'm 23. FYL OP. Maybe the parents should be asking their daughter what the hell she was thinking agreeing to go out with someone who she obviously knew was a lot older if she was able to tell her parents his age.

Personally, I would not cite Wikipedia, as an authoritative source of information...

And why not? Because "anyone can edit it"? The article is locked. Only registered users can. Wikipedia is composed of other citations. If an article doesn't have enough citations, it is pointed out. It can be a reliable source. The particular segment I cited has two citations backing it, which are both accessible (meaning, they have links; they aren't external media).

Yea...I'm with DameGreyWulf on this one. Usually under the wikipedia article it also lists all the sources where the information was taken from and you can go to those too in case they're websites. A lot of times it's government websites, universities etc. So wikipedia definitely can be a reliable source you just have to know how to judge what is and is not reliable.

my profs in med school actually advise us to use wikipedia. if he's wrong: FYL for everyone.

I didn't realize that going to dinner with someone under 18 is against the law.

Who ******* gives a ****. She's 16, not some itty bitty baby who hasn't lost any innocence. God I hate uptight assholes who are always so freaked out about an older guy being with a sexually mature female. My boyfriend is older than me, it shouldn't ******* matter.

The book is better. It's a bit more in depth with the thought processes and better illustrates the meaning of the book.

I've read both the book and seen the movie. There's definitely a difference between a 12 year old girl (prepubescent) and a 16 year old girl (pubescent.) That's why Humbert Humbert went after Lolita. She was prepubescent. That's why he preyed on other nymphets. They were prepubescent. I'm talking about sexually mature females, not prepubescent ones.

No, I was saying Lolita was prepubsecent. I'm saying that 16 year olds (girls almost finished with their development) should be allowed to be in relationships with older men). You made the point that Lolita was pubescent, which isn't so. I'm not saying girls younger than 16 should be in relationships with older men; in laymen's terms, I think the AoC should be 16. A lot of places in the world would agree with me on this. You should stop assuming I'm talking about MUCH younger girls.

Well, age won't matter when you're 82 and she's 73! And when you're both sitting on the porch together in your rocking chairs, you can laaaaugh and laaaaugh about this.

*sitting on porch, rocking back and forth* "Hey honey, remember when we first met and your parents thought I was a pedophile" "Oh yeah ahahaha" "Hey honey, I just crapped my pants" "Oh yeah ahahaha"

"Better git the broom, Myrtle! It's a big'un this time!" "MORTY! Go git in the tub, now I gotta sponge ya off!"

Must be an American thing, where I live it is the other way around, for example in my university there are a few 20 year old girls who look like they're 12.

Was her dad Chris hansen? "Hi there, comon over here, why don't you take a seat" I sure hope you smiled for the cameras

I'm sure the pictures got bigger smiles, though, right? :]

It's not an American thing to do the "ideal age" thing I was talking about. Hell, it's even mentioned in The Chronicles of Narnia, a series published in the UK. Now, for the "looking older" thing, I actually disagree (with the original comment). Most women, actually people in general, I know look younger than they are (or the right age). Then again, I'm a terrible judge of age; I still think my grandmother is in her 50s when I know very well she's actually in her 60s. Kind of sucks in that people usually think I'm sucking up to them when I say they look a different age lol I certainly am one of those gals who look really young. How annoying it was my first day of classes when I was asked if I was "college shopping" (they assumed I was a high school freshman instead of a college freshman).

to be honest I'm not going to ask how old you are every time I ask a girl out I'm mean if she looks 25 and acts 25 it's cuu. but yeah these days you just don't know. and be real the guy is not looking for little kids to date he thought she was of age. (so he says) but still your 25 thinking 18 errrrrrr 7 years um wow that's kinda strange. but yeah I don't blame you. I prob would have jumpped on the parents letting their daughter walk around acting older then she really is.
