Denial

Today, I came out of the closet. I came out on Facebook to spare myself awkward conversations and gossip. I wrote a deeply meaningful status about my partner and my pride in who I was. The only responses were, "Lol", "Hacked", and similar remarks. FML

Should have done it in person. No possibility of hacking that way (or people saying lol hacked)

Aww sorry OP. But I've been told that Facebook is one of the worst places to come out on. I understand though, doing it in person is hard. I hope people understand.

Ummmm... Pride? Pride of who you are? Ok, some say it's sick, some say it's fine, as for me - it's your private business and I don't careif a person is straight or gay, there's nothing to be ashamed for or laughed at, etc.. But PRIDE? Really?

That stinks. Nice job though. That must have been hard to do.

Maybe people didn't believe you. Those responses sound like your comment was taken as a prank or joke. You could post another, stating this is not a hack. Congratulations for being brave enough to come out. I hope you are fortunate enough to not encounter any sexists.

Go you! I know how hard it can be to come out to parents and family, so well done to you for coming out in whatever way was more comfortable for you. I wish you the very best!

Damn you must of been born after 1995...why would you ever do anything like that on FB?? And posting it there would stur up more gossip...It's like a breakup or announcing someone died or your pregnant (though announcing a pregnancy after you've told a few ppl on FB is ok)..tell people you're close too, and everyone else will find out when they need too

Personally, Id post up some pictures of you and your partner along with that post, it'll take your friends some grtting used to, but no one who's a true friend should care. I'm happy for you by the way!

Take my advice mate. Come out on instagram, not facebook
