Denial

Today, I came out of the closet. I came out on Facebook to spare myself awkward conversations and gossip. I wrote a deeply meaningful status about my partner and my pride in who I was. The only responses were, "Lol", "Hacked", and similar remarks. FML

Should have done it in person. No possibility of hacking that way (or people saying lol hacked)

I came out over MSN (as transsexual, not as gay), and sure people didn't believe it at first, but it was sure as hell an easier way to do it. Just say on facebook that you are serious, make sure a few people know you are, then the news will spread and do its work for you, so you don't have to go through convincing everyone one by one. Some people are commenting saying that it's better to do it face-to-face. For some people however (such as myself) find this a bit too daunting to be possible. Coming out initially not face-to-face is an effective stepping stone, and very good at spreading it to others.

Aww. Im so sorry. I know how hard it is to build up the courage to do that and to have people shoot that down like that is horrible. I wish you and your partner the best. :)

didn't know u were serious bro sorry

Coming out on fb is such a mistake unless you happen to only be friends with extremely mature and open people wich lets face it, is hardly ever the case. Me and my girlfriend started out by juat telling our close friends and saying it wasn't a secret so that way if someone asked about us they would tell them and very slowly the whole school became aware. We didn't make it a big deal and we had very few akward conversations. Mostly the people who confront you about it will be those close to you and you should be comfortable talking with them about it. In school or work people are less likely to come up and askyou about it but on fb almost anyone will say anything. As for people thinking you were hacked, what do you expect? It happens to people all the time. Like i said, fb not the best choice.

Dont feel bad, when i told my best friend(in person) that i was a lesbian she laughed hysterically for 2hrs and when i told my mom she laughed at me for being so scared to tell her. But ya know what, they both still love me just the same and they even love my gf. So go for it! Tell your friends and family in. person! Hell i even tried to hide it from my dad for 2 years then when i finally told him, he said he already knew.

I'm sorry. That's hard. You need to do it in person. Good luck!!

I suppose that's what happens when you come out in Texas

Wish I could come out that easily :( I'm glad you could!! Just wish people could of believed you.

I think it's weird that people call it getting hacked when your just using their phone.
