Today, I swam in a race against all of the girls in the midwest in the hardest, longest, most grueling race you can swim. I won. Happy but so tired I could barely move, I looked up to see my time. I had been disqualified. For flinching. Before the race started. FML

How is that grounds for disqualification? And shouldn't they have told you before the race started that you were disqualified?

this actually is an fml. i'm sorry, that really sucks. don't let it weigh you down though, it'll only make you feel bad in the long run. :/

#28: If she put what race it was, non-swimmers might not know what it is. I'd only know because a lot of my friends swim. I guess it wouldn't take too much effort to mention it though. #101: Yeah, TECHNICALLY, but she said that to indicate that she finished first and would have won had she not be disqualified.

Hahaha, maybe you should have been more focused, and flinching is false starting especially at a big meet

you can get disqualified for flinching between anytime the starter say take your mark to the beep. also the only time when you can false start and not get disqualified is when the starter says take your mark then says to please stand if you accidentaly dive in its the starters fault

#98: internet racisim: racism on the internet. Most racists are internet racists so that they can talk hardcore trash about your ethnicity all day and remain annonymous, since they clearly lack the balls to say anything to your face in real life. IR's will prowl the internet looking for any reference to your race (articles, pictures, videos, etc.) and talk crap about you, all while hiding behind the safety of their computer screens. Lots of them are at youtube making garbage comments about you. Some are even here at Urban Dictionary. Don't believe me? Look at most of the definitions for 'black people' where most of said definitions are in some way demeaning black people. The best advice for regular internet-goers: Just ignore internet racism. Ignoring racism makes you strong. Always remember: as a normal person, you're always one step above a racist. Always. Look up any video on youtube that involves African-Americans, and you're 100% absolutely guranteed to find people posting "I hate niggers" comments. That's internet racism for ya. -urban dictionary.

i swim high school and club and the thing is that you got DQed for a false start and you "won" or in other words you were the first one to finish so you have the time it may not be on record but if it was as big of a meet as you said it was... then people will see your potential and it could still benifit you

OMG i hate it when that happens!!! i understand cuz ive been swimming club for 7 years, and it happens to everyone after a while definatly a FYL it must have been like a 500/1000/1650 or like the 400IM cuz those suck the most

If you can't flinch, what would happen if you sneezed or coughed?

oi i hate it when that happens. i swim the 500 and if i got DQ'd once for false starting. they're supposed to stop the race if something happens in the beginning. especially longs ones like the 500 yd or 400m or 1000yd X_X what'd you swim?
