Today, I swam in a race against all of the girls in the midwest in the hardest, longest, most grueling race you can swim. I won. Happy but so tired I could barely move, I looked up to see my time. I had been disqualified. For flinching. Before the race started. FML

How is that grounds for disqualification? And shouldn't they have told you before the race started that you were disqualified?

this actually is an fml. i'm sorry, that really sucks. don't let it weigh you down though, it'll only make you feel bad in the long run. :/

I'm so sorry! At least you and every single other person there know that you were the real winner. If there was money/prizes, etc., that really blows, but at least you have the quasi-comfort of knowing that you did actually win the race.

thats why im a sprinter who cares if you flinched and swam a WHOLE 50

thats bull! you defentally should have won!!!!!

hey i am on margo's team and i know how bad it must suck to have lost this way. but put yourself in margos shoes and have lost the race when you should have won. you did something illegal and thats your fault. and everything in your statement was right except you didnt win. margo did.

flinching shouldn't be illegal . I know its considered a false start and what not but people flinch when they are fatigued if they were standing on that board in the same ready position for more than a minute and she then moved her head because of a muscle spasm that is not in her control. it doesn't start any one nor give them any advantage in any way especially if the flinch was smaller than .5 cm which flinches Usually are. as a team mate you should have tried to yell to her to get her to stop racing so her talents could be potentially used in the next round if she just got dqed for that round. if not at least buy the poor girl an ice cream cone.

I pray everyday that your house is on Channel 9 news because an boeing 747 crash lands into it.

lol @ regionals. wasn't that a few weeks ago

What was the time anyway? doesn't mater if you win. Only if you improve. :)

Thats bullshit... You dont get "desqualified" just like that, you get a warning first... story is BS I swim competative as well...

I am a swimmer myself, and I got DQ'ed for my block being wobbly. Luckily, it was only the 100 breast, and not the 500/mile? I had a friend who wanted to do the 500 freestyle, but do it backstroke. So, he jumped in the water and did a back start. He did the entire thing backstorke to find out he was DQ'ed. His mom was the official and DQ'ed him for a false start.
