Disinformation

Today, there was a fire alarm in my dorm. Just as I was leaving my room, a lady in the hallway told me that it was a drill and they'd be inspecting rooms, so I would need to leave my door unlocked. When I came back, my room was trashed and my laptop, speakers, and jewelry were gone. FML

I'm going to assume she was lying and was the one who stole your stuff, right? I've never heard of inspections during fire drills... anyway, hopefully you remember what she looks like for a good police sketch.

That's a bit of a dumb thing to say on a website called '**** my life'...

Strangely enough I read this just after coming in from a fire alarm. FYL cause they suck enough as it is.

YDI for believing there'd be inspections during firedrills.

My university always has inspections during a fire drill.

That really sucks. I hope you reported this. I don't understand why so many people think this person deserved this though. School just started and I doubt anyone would be familiar enough with all the dorm policies to know this was a scam.

The first day I came to college, we got a talk about dorm rules, and they specifically told us never to keep our doors unlocked if there isn't at least one person in the room, including during fire drills. That's typically something colleges try to stress.

Nerd: Oh, don't worry Mr. Simpson, we can take care of ourselves. Snake: Uh, wallet inspector! Nerd: Oh, here you go. I believe that's all in order. Snake: Wow, I can't believe that worked! (runs away) Homer: Hey wait a minute… that's not the wallet inspector!

Dude, YDI for believing her. But FYL for losing your stuff.

1) If it's a drill, they wouldn't bust your door just for a drill, so lock it anyway. 2) If it was true, they would have told you guys in advance, hence locking the door since it's not a true drill. It's still an FYL, but there's some YDI in it for trusting random burglars in the corridors. Was she by any chance walking in the opposite direction of the people evacuating...?

YDI for not asking for ID, or knowing your dorm advisor.

if she was genuine, she would have had a master key or something anyway YDI for blindly following the orders of a stranger.

Hey OP! Did you know the word gullible isn't in the dictionary?

Sooo, what's with all the theft stories lately? A new trend or what??
