If you have definite proof this person has been stalking you, like a police report, your service provider may work with you and take those charges off your bill. Even try just speaking with a supervisor. You'd be surprised at how willing they are to help you out, especially if your account is in good standing.
Doubtful. They'll probably say that OP chose to repeatedly text this person, and should have known that it was international and there would be charges. If there was a mistake on their end, that'd be different, but this is pretty much OP's own fault. If you don't have free texting on your plan, you need to pay attention to who you text and how much, or else this will happen. Common sense.
26, You'd be surprised. If it was harassment, I think it would be a legitimate reason to text back. My cell company worked with me when somehow I used 2 GB in data, suspiciously in 3 days. But then again, I was about to get a new phone for Christmas. They bumped me up to 5 GB and I got a bill credit for $50. It's a lot of how you approach them and have a good standing with them.
Why did you tell a stalker to leave you alone? You are now being stalked, knowingly.
#13 Isn't that the first thing you should tell someone who is giving you unwanted attention? Ignoring it is an option I suppose, but then some people might assume that you're just shy and carry on.
You're so smart. I totally care whether people think I'm shy or not. It definitely defines my whole life.
Be happy that he doesn't live near you. If he did, you'd have problems other than a higher cell phone bill.
This is driving me nuts! To everyone saying this: It is possible to move to another country without changing your phone number! Maybe it doesn't happen often, but you can't just assume that the stalker is not in OP's country.
You're right #24, I went on google to find an answer to my own question above and found out that if I bring my UK phone to the US with me and use it, I don't have to pay to receive text messages, the sender has to pay that charge because the phone is still treated as being international.
Most Networks have a feature you can activate to block all incoming and outgoing International communications
Finally, a victim that finally gets it! All of my prey so far seem to believe they deserve my attention for free! High-powered binoculars and Depends don't buy themselves. When I'm being watched, I provide my stalkers with healthy snacks and cash stipends to help them defray their expenses.
Thanks for the snacks perdix. They were tasty!
Send him a notice for collection... Along w a subpoena for a restraining order :) two birds w one stone!
OP, I feel bad for you for being stalked, but for this particular situation you deserve it twice over for being stupid. 1- you should have been able to see the number you were texting, and you would have seen that it was not a local area code. So YDI for not paying attention to who you were texting, especially if you don't have unlimited texting in your plan. 2- why the hell would you message this guy more than once?! Obviously he wasn't going to stop just because you kept asking. You were just encouraging him to text more. So you also deserve it for not either just ignoring the texts, or blocking the number. Why does common sense no longer exist?!
She can respond to stalking however she chooses. He is the one in the wrong I also do not think actually failing to tell him to leave her alone would have helped either
why would u even answer them xD YDI for being a noob xP
If somebody's stalking you, it's best to ignore it, and report it to the police. YDI for responding after the second time.

You really should have just blocked the number after the second time.
At least he's in a different country, right?
