Well not everyone knows where all the countries are located, not his fault
YDI for making a bet on something you couldn't be sure of.
Can't answer trivia, break his heart and leave him in the gutter.
72- The drug trade is mostly in Mexico…
24 and 72- Thank you for stereotyping a nation of 300 million people, more than Germany, the UK, and France combined. I'm European and I know not to stereotype.
Your from Europe you've never dealt with the Americans that have never left their State they can be very ignorant and unreasonable
160- Actually I currently live in the United States And 161- Well in the end I kind of agree there are quite a few Americans who aren't very knowledgeable of the world.
People can say whatever the hell they want... The US school system does kind of suck. I went to school in Germany from 1st to 11th grade and then finished my 11th grade and 12th grade in a High School here in the US. my grades shot up like you wouldn't believe because school here is SO much easier. Also, a lot of schools DON'T emphasize geography. Not even necessarily American schools... It happens in Europe too. There's been surveys in a lot of different countries about how much the new generations (AKA the teenagers nowadays) know about their own country, neighboring countries, and countries from all over the world. The US' results kind of, well, sucked. But so did Germany's, despite the fact that our educational system is pretty damn good. The thing about surveys like that is the fact that most of the time, they're used to shame out generation for not knowing things, so they pick the social groups who are less likely to actually be able to answer the questions.
Seriously people, a lot of Americans are really smart, some aren't but the majority of Americans are. So what if someone didn't know where Paraguay was, hell it took me a few minutes to learn. A lot of countries would be lucky to have the ability to an education like many Americans do. We are actually getting smarter because of the resources we are given. I'm not the smartest person on Earth but I am intellectually competent. I've noticed a substantial increase in the IQ of my generation, they have the resources and they are using it. Not everyone but a lot of people. Now I ask everyone to stop hating on a country. It's a country not a person, you can't judge a country based on a few people.
It isn't always the education system that sucks. Sometimes the students just don't care.
I'm pretty sure there's a big difference between stupidity and ignorance that you seem to be ignoring. To be clear, ignorance is not knowing something, while stupidity is just being dumb regardless of how much information you know. And you, my good lady, are stupid for not only taking the bet, but getting mad at the poor guy for not knowing a piece of information that is probably utterly useless to either of you. Way to go.
Agreed
Thank you! Not everyone knows everything! Doesn't make him stupid. He may know a lot of other things that op doesn't.
I'm guessing he doesn't watch FIFA Euro cup or World cup...
#34. football isn't very popular in America so probably not... However, I can't stand football (think it's a close second behind cricket as the most boring sport to watch) and I know where Paraguay is on the map.
Football is extremely popular here. Soccer, not so much. (we call it soccer here)
34- I can understand why you said the World Cup, but the Euros? Paraguay isn't in Europe, so even if he did watch it, he still wouldn't know.
39- football aka soccer is the most popular sport in the world..with I reckon, cricket being 2nd. They are both great..actually..fantastic sports...not boring..maybe to you because you have a short attention span or you prefer baseball to cricket. It's your opinion but i just hate it when someone calls an exciting sport like soccer and a fascinating one like cricket, boring!
I don't watch baseball either, I'm Scottish not American. You want a proper sport, watch shinty/hurling. It's like hockey but more savage.
Dad's an ass for instigating the bet in the first place. Stupidity comes in more than one form....this time it was Dad and Daughter for being so stupid to think that everyone would know useless information. Boyfriend should dump the twit girlfriend for this.
I kind of can't help but feel bad for the guy, to be honest.

6 some people don't know where it is, doesn't mean you have to call them idiots. It's not like you were born and you already knew the whole map
I'm pretty sure anyone with a decent education knows where it is. At the very least they should know that it exists.
